Typical situations for transmission of SARS-CoV-2 to hospital personnel

COVID-19 infections of employees, especially in the COVID area, were a major problem in hospitals, most of all in autumn 2020. The experience of 14 hospitals in the Ruhr area is reported. The following could be identified as important transmission situations: Badly or incorrectly fitting FFP2 masks, no compliance with distance and mask rules in social rooms and smoking areas, shared car journeys without a mask, not fitting masks for bearded people and a lack of compliance with the COVID hygiene rules among trainees. © 2021 mhp-Verlag GmbH.
